The Galaxy A3 is the first device in the series to get a taste of Lollipop.
This
year, it is going to be pretty hard for critics to find reasons to
fault Samsung. The Korean manufacturer has launched two incredible
smartphones in the form of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, both of
which feature impressive design and hardware, and also fix the software
issues (namely lag and stutter) that have plagued Samsung’s smartphones
for a long time now.
Speaking of software, Samsung has also been
pretty active at updating its devices to Android 5.0 ever since it was
announced by Google. All of its flagship phones in the past two years
have made the jump to Lollipop, and it seems the smartphone giant isn’t
taking any rest – it has now started updating the Galaxy A3 to the
latest version of the OS, kicking off the upgrade party for its
mid-range lineup.
Russia is the first market to see the update
rolling out over the air, though a global rollout should soon follow.
While not replacing the entire software with the one that debuted on the
Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, Lollipop does bring a refreshed UX that takes
inspiration from Google’s Material Design, along with things like better
performance, lockscreen notifications, and more.
Earlier reports have said that the entire Galaxy A lineup is set to receive the Lollipop update, though
it remains to be seen if Samsung will maintain its momentum in adding
more names to the list of devices that have left their Android KitKat
days behind.
